Long-Lasting Perfumes: All 36 Bottles With a Wear Figure, Ranked
The longest-wearing bottles on the Accord Twin list run around 9 hours: Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady, Nishane Hacivat and Lattafa Khamrah. Price is a loose guide at best: Creed Silver Mountain Water is $360 and wears around 4 hours, while Khamrah is $49.99. Concentration tracks wear more closely, and this guide ranks all 36 bottles on the list that carry a published wear figure.
Every bottle claims to be long lasting. This page does something narrower and more useful: it takes the wear figure published for each of the 36 bottles on the Accord Twin list that carry one and sorts them, top to bottom.
Two things jump out. A $49.99 eau de parfum shares the top band with bottles at $295 and $300. And a $360 eau de toilette sits in the second-lowest band. Price is not irrelevant, since the nine bottles at $230 or more average about 7.6 hours against 5.9 for the eight under $50, but it is a loose guide, and the table below shows where it fails.
What actually decides how long a perfume lasts?
The two things a label and a note list can show about how long a perfume lasts are its concentration and the weight of its base notes, and price is neither. The EDT versus EDP figures lay out the concentration side in full.
Concentration first. An eau de toilette is roughly 5 to 15 percent perfume oil, and an eau de parfum roughly 15 to 20. On the Accord Twin list, the ten eaux de toilette with a wear figure run from around 4 to 7 hours and average about 5, while the 24 eaux de parfum run from around 5 to 9 and average about 6.9. The one extrait wears around 9 hours and the one body mist around 3. The bands overlap at 5 and 6 hours, so concentration shifts the odds rather than settling them.
The measurable part is evaporation. Schwarzenbach and Bertschi of Givaudan sampled the air above skin in 2001 and tracked how a fragrance thinned out hour by hour.
Why do base notes matter for longevity?
Base notes matter because they are what is left on your skin once a fragrance has been on for a few hours. A fragrance unfolds in three stages: top notes are the lightest molecules and fade first, heart notes come through as they go, and base notes are the heaviest and outlast both.
The four bottles at around 9 hours all name heavy materials of that kind: dates, vanilla and praline in Lattafa Khamrah, tobacco leaf, vanilla and tonka in Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, patchouli and incense in Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady, and cedarwood and oakmoss in Nishane Hacivat. But a heavy note is a guide, not a rule. Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L'Homme lists vetiver and cedar and still wears around 4 hours, as an eau de toilette.
Which perfumes last the longest?

Every bottle in the top two bands is an eau de parfum or an extrait, and every bottle in the bottom two bands is an eau de toilette or a mist. Families cluster too: the 9-hour band is Amber, Floral Amber and Mossy Woods, and the 4-hour band is Water, Citrus and Aromatic.
One phrase to get right: the hours describe wear, meaning how long the scent is still on your skin. They do not describe projection, which is how far it travels. That distinction has its own guide on sillage, projection and longevity, including why only one of the three can be published honestly, and no figure on this page measures how far a scent carries.
Why does a $49.99 bottle last as long as a $295 one?
A $49.99 bottle can last as long as a $295 one because price is not what sets wear time: Lattafa Khamrah at $49.99 and Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady at $295 are both eaux de parfum, both list heavy base materials, and both wear around 9 hours. On longevity alone the two are level. No brand publishes what the $245.01 between them pays for, but on the listed figures it is not hours.
The mirror image is Creed Silver Mountain Water, an eau de toilette in the Water family at $360, with listed notes of bergamot, green tea, black currant and musk, and a wear figure of around 4 hours. Its musk note predicts nothing. It is not an outlier among fresh bottles: on the Accord Twin list, the Water, Citrus, Aromatic and Fruity families average about 4.9 hours against 6.7 for the rest. You are paying for a style, and on this list that style wears short.
The label on the box beats the price tag.
Among the eaux de toilette and eaux de parfum on the list, concentration tracks the hour figures far more closely than price does, so narrow the family and the concentration first.
What are the longest-lasting perfumes for women?
Taking the bottles most often marketed to women from the table, the leaders are Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady at around 9 hours, then Baccarat Rouge 540 at around 8, then a band at around 7: Delina, Libre, Kayali Vanilla | 28 and Good Girl.
Two things stand out. First, Lattafa Khamrah at $49.99 is not marketed to one gender and wears around 9 hours, which makes it the cheapest route to the top band among the 36 bottles with a wear figure. Second, among the 17 bottles at 7 hours or more, the Amber family leads with six and Floral Amber follows with four. Delina, the only Floral-family bottle on the list with a wear figure, is an eau de parfum that lists vanilla and wears around 7 hours.
If longevity is your first criterion, shop the Amber and Floral Amber families in eau de parfum concentration, and narrow the family before you look at the price.
What are the longest-lasting colognes for men?
Taking the bottles most often marketed to men, Nishane Hacivat leads at around 9 hours, then Creed Aventus, Dior Homme Intense and Lattafa Asad at around 8 each, then Club de Nuit Intense Man and Le Male Le Parfum at around 7.
Asad is the number to remember. At $29.50 it wears the same 8 hours as Aventus at $380 and Dior Homme Intense at $173. Club de Nuit Intense Man at $26.99 wears around 7, one hour short of the Aventus that Accord Twin pairs it with.
The shortest figures for men sit in the fresh families. La Nuit de L'Homme and Voyage are eaux de toilette in the Aromatic and Water families, and both wear around 4 hours. Sauvage and Eros are eaux de toilette too, but sit at around 6 hours, behind only Club de Nuit Intense Man, which at around 7 is the longest-wearing eau de toilette on the list. The fresh families also hold four of the five shortest figures in the whole table.
How do you make any perfume last longer?
The surest way to make a perfume last longer is to start with a longer-wearing bottle, because concentration and the hour figure are the only longevity facts this guide can stand behind. Buy the concentration for the day you have: on the Accord Twin list an eau de toilette wears around 4 to 7 hours, an eau de parfum around 5 to 9, and the one extrait around 9.
Two habits follow from plain logic rather than from data. Spray where it will not be washed off: the back of the hand is washed and rubbed all day, and the chest and the inside of the elbows are not. And judge a bottle hours in, not in the first few minutes, because the first minutes are the top notes leaving and tell you little about the base.
Some people spray over unscented lotion, or add sprays, to help a fragrance cling. Accord Twin holds no data on how much either adds, so treat both as experiments. The guide to making perfume last longer sets out what the published studies do and do not support.
Will a perfume last as long on you as this ranking says?
Not necessarily: each hour figure on the Accord Twin list is one typical number per bottle, and the list holds no data on how skin, climate or the number of sprays moves it. Around 8 hours is a published typical wear figure, rounded to the hour, not a promise for your wrist on a hot day.
The ranking also covers less than the list. Only 36 of the 122 bottles carry a wear figure, so 86 are missing from the table rather than ranked low, including every Aldi, Lidl and Dossier bottle and 20 of the 22 from Zara. Accord Twin has never smelled any of them: the hours are published figures, sorted, not a wear test.
Accord Twin will name the bottle in your family at three prices, and it lists the wear figure for each, so you can rank them by hours before you rank them by price.
You are also a poor judge of your own. A 1996 study found people stop registering an odour they live with, which is why a fragrance often seems to vanish while other people can still smell it.
What to remember
- Four bottles on the Accord Twin list wear around 9 hours: Tobacco Vanille ($300), Portrait of a Lady ($295), Hacivat ($240) and Khamrah ($49.99).
- Price is a loose guide to hours: Silver Mountain Water is $360 and wears around 4; Asad is $29.50 and wears around 8.
- Concentration sets the band: EDTs on the Accord Twin list wear 4 to 7 hours, EDPs 5 to 9, the one mist 3.
- Families cluster: Amber, Floral Amber and Mossy Woods fill the 9-hour band; Water, Citrus and Aromatic fill the 4-hour one.
- Hours describe wear on skin, not how far the scent travels, and no figure on the list measures projection.
- Each figure is one typical number per bottle; Accord Twin holds no data on how skin, climate or extra sprays change it.

On the Accord Twin list, the 24 eaux de parfum with a wear figure last from around 5 to around 9 hours, about 6.9 on average. An eau de parfum is roughly 15 to 20 percent perfume oil, and the list holds no data on why two bottles at the same concentration differ.
Prices here are the figures Accord Twin lists, last checked September 2026. They are a reference for comparing bottles, not one shop's till: the same bottle moves with size and retailer, so check the shop before buying.
Tell Accord Twin the family you like and it will name three bottles with their wear figures, so you can pick by hours before you pick by price.
